Beltrami Area Suicide Prevention Program
Active since 2005, the Beltrami Area Suicide Prevention Program serves to educate the community about suicide.
We believe that with knowledge & awareness about risk factors & warning signs of suicide, community members can intervene; connecting individuals to help and support. By focusing on building strengths we can help prevent crises before they develop.
In 2019 the Suicide Prevention Program provided the following services:

We believe that with knowledge & awareness about risk factors & warning signs of suicide, community members can intervene; connecting individuals to help and support. By focusing on building strengths we can help prevent crises before they develop.
In 2019 the Suicide Prevention Program provided the following services:
- - Trained 638 high school students in Beltrami County as a Gatekeeper- someone who can identify signs of suicide risk in a friend or peer and knows how to refer them to safety.
- Trained 576 adults as Gatekeepers
- Provided 121 people and agencies with technical support and referrals
- Made 44 life saving referrals from high school youth to connective services
- Provide monthly articles to the Bemidji Pioneer
- Led the Headwaters Alliance for Suicide Prevention
- Hosted the 13th Annual Run/Walk/Skate for Suicide Prevention
Thanks to your support, we have been able to continue our work. Due to loss of funding, our services are in danger of being cut. We are grateful for our community and for any and all contributions.
