Beltrami Area Suicide Prevention Program
The program began back in 2005 as a grass roots task force of concerned community members. Thanks to the work of the Beltrami Area Service Collaborative, the former Healthy Community Healthy Kids and numerous community stakeholders the Beltrami Area Suicide Prevention Program continues to address suicide prevention issues today.
The Suicide Prevention Program seeks to reduce risk factors & increase protective factors. With knowledge & awareness about risk factors & warning signs community members can intervene; connecting individuals to help and support. By focusing on building strengths we can help prevent crises before they develop.

The Headwaters Alliance for Suicide Prevention facilitated through the Suicide Prevention Program, is a community-based group of individuals and agencies coordinating regional suicide prevention efforts. The mission of the Alliance is; “To promote healthy communities by eliminating suicide in the region through education, advocacy and community involvement.” The group is open to the public & meets the 4th Tuesday of every month. Meetings are held in Bemidji at the Beltrami County Administration Building from 8:30am-10:30am.
The Suicide Prevention Program has operated as a program of Evergreen Youth & Family Services since January 2009. Evergreen is a community-based organization committed to strengthening and preserving families. In addition to the Suicide Prevention Program; Evergreen offers a strong safety net of services for youth & families.
